Early Medieval human remains
An incomplete (65%) inhumation of an adult female aged 40-50 years (extended, supine) in a plain grave oriented southwest-northeast. The upper body was lying on bedrock. The grave was disturbed by JCB activity resulting in loss of right lower leg and intrusions of unstratified bone.
Elements present: Crania, mandible (no teeth in situ - lost some time prior to death as the bone had completely remodelled), maxilla, loose teeth, ribs, vertebrae (pathology: osteoporosis, osteoarthritis), sacrum, L and R clavicle, L and R femur, L and R tibia, R humerus, L and R scapula, L and R patella (pathology: osteoarthritis), pelvis, ulnae fragments (pathology: degraded, possible osteoporosis), unsided radius, unsided fibula fragments, long bone fragments, hands and feet bones (pathology: eburnation on metatarsals/metacarpals), unidentified fragments, possible ossicle.
Intrusions: juvenile proximal femur shaft, yougner juvenile proximal femur epiphysis, unfused fragment, adult scapula fragment.
Microfauna and possible animal bone fragments were identified during repackaging.
