Dillwyn & Co., Cambrian Pottery (1811 - 1817 and 1824 - 1850)
Plate, earthenware, standing on a rounded foot rim, rounded sides, flaring to form rim; the rim moulded with a waved edge, forming an octagonal shape with an indentation at each corner point; transfer printed in blue with the 'Ne Plus Ultra' pattern; in the centre a woman seated on a bench, holding a lyre, surrounded by scrolled rococo style flowers and foliage and with a vista of a sailing ship on an expanse of water; the rim printed in blue with female figures with baskets of flowers seated in front of a lake and mountain background, interspersed with scrolling foliage and floral motifs within a border of dots on a blue ground with a narrow egg and dart style border to the outer rim.
