Jug

Jug, hybrid hard-paste porcelain, standing on a rounded spreading foot, bulbous body with spiral fluting, cylindrical neck, beak spout with vertical reeding to the lower spout, loop handle with raised thumb-spur and the upper terminal curling outwards, the lower handle broken and repaired so that the whole handle is now slightly lop-sided; transfer-printed in blue with to the sides of the body a chinoiserie-style scene showing in the foreground several pagodas and oriental trees and a bridge across an expanse of water, in the background pagodas on islands with small boats in an expanse of water, the exterior neck printed with smaller scenes with to one side a group of pagodas and oriental trees and to the other side islands in an expanse of water, a pagoda and a bridge, to the interior lip-rim and spout a border of scrolls and flower heads on a scale blue ground.
