Roman wooden writing tablet
Thin rectangle of wood with a shallow recess in one face, which would originally have contained wax. Traces of the text originally written in the wax can be seen in the surface of the wood on the bottom of the recess. The text suggest that the tablet is one leaf of a will.
Wax writing tablet containing part of a Roman will. It is the first known will from Wales and dates to the period 75-125 CE.
