Eyelet closing pliers
Pliers for fitting eyelets into holes in the leather uppers of clogs for laces. On one jaw is a die and on the other is a closing bit. Between the jaws is a spring, which re-opens them when pressure is removed. The eyelet is a tubular metal bush which is inserted into the hole, to provide a smooth lining for the lace holes, and it prevents the leather from tearing. It has a narrow rim which lies on the front surface, and a tail which is clenched by the pliers on the inside surface.
