Notebook containing fieldnotes and photographs taken by Sir Cyril Fox. The research was later published in Monmouthshire Houses.
Volume 1 of Monmouthshire Houses was published in 1951 by Sir Cyril Fox and Lord Raglan. The series was a detailed study of the region’s architecture between 1415 and 1714. Together with Iorwerth C. Peate’s book The Welsh House published in 1946, Monmouthshire Houses was an early and influential study of Welsh rural homes.
A collection of material written and compiled by Sir Cyril Fox chiefly in preparing Monmouthshire Houses (Pts. 1-3; publ. jointly with Lord Raglan; 1951-54), comprising letters, field-books, various plans, notes on vernacular architecture, photographs etc.
