UNDERWOOD, Leon (1890-1975)
A painted sculpture in poplar wood of a recling female form. Carved in a primitive style with upward projceting breasts, the swollen belly below cut across revealing 3 arches. The central arch carved with relief symbolic / votive carvings; reading clockwise from the left, a downward pointing sole of a left foot, an open mouth, an eye lying upon an open left palm with the first index finger pointing to the right, an ear and the sole of a right foot pointing downwards.
