Early Neolithic pottery vessel
Calcite tempered vessel. Soft, grey, vesicular fabric. Abundant angular cavities formed by weathered out calcite crystals up to 5 mm long. Occasional sherds have the calcite preserved, showing that they were originally rhomboidal cleavage fragments of vein calcite. There is also a scatter of tiny quartz. Probably local provenance.
