Rushlight & candle holder
Manufactured in Cardiganshire, 18th Century. The twistwork stem and arm are rare for Cardiganshire - the date of this piece possibly indicates a change of fashion at the end of the 18th Century. The legs are split from the lower part of the stem - also rare in Welsh examples.
Blacksmiths made items for the home and although for everyday use, the objects were often beautiful and decorative. Blacksmiths added extra flourishes to show off their skills.
