¾ Starboard bow view of S.S. LAKE BABINE at Cardiff Docks.

“Victory” type vessel launched as FORT MACKINAC but completed in 1943 as BEATON PARK by Burrard Dry Dock Co. Ltd., Vancouver (engine by John Inglis Co Ltd, Toronto), for Park Steamship Co., Montreal, managed by North Pacific Shipping Co., Vancouver. 1946 – Sold to Western Canada Steamships Ltd., Vancouver and renamed LAKE BABINE. 1951 – Sold to Andros Shipping Co Ltd., Montreal, and renamed MOUNTAINSIDE, managed by Goulandris Brothers, London. 1953 – Sold to Araucan Cia Armadora SA, Panama, and renamed SANTA MARINA, managed by Orion Shipping & Trading Co Inc., New York. 1959 – Sold to Assimio Cia de Vapores, Panama, and renamed ASSIMINA P. 1960 – Owners restyled Mina Cia de Vapores SA, Panama. 1965 – Renamed ASSIMINA PIANGOS. Same owner, but now registered at Andros. She was broken up at Kaohsiung, Taiwan in 1967/68 (fortships.tripod.com/Parks) ( mariners-l.co.uk/ParkA.html)
