Jug
Jug, earthenware with a bluish tinge to the glaze, rounded foot-rim, ovoid body, cylindrical neck, plain beak spout most of whihc has broken off, grooved loop handle; to the front of the exterior body the inscription "Thomas & Elizath Mathews / Tredegar / 1825" painted in brown enamel, the rest of the exterior body and exterior neck crudely painted in polychrome enamels with garden flowers and foliage, the underside of the spout decorated with spots of different colours, brown bands around the foot-rim, shoulder and exterior lip-rim, the handle picked out in brown. One side of the neck cracked and repaired.
