Jug

Jug, pale cream-coloured earthenware with a soft greenish tinge to the glaze, bulbous body flaring out to the foot-rim and lip-rim, plain beak spout, plain loop handle; transfer-printed in black with to one side of the exterior body an oval medallion containing a symbolic scene of three female figures, one holding a cross, one holding an anchor, and one with two small children, the medallion enclosed by a wreath of foliage and with the inscription "FAITH, HOPE & CHARITY. / Come to my Breast, ye heavenly three / Firm Faith, calm Hope, and ever blooming Charity." printed around it, to the other side another oval medallion containing a standing female figure holding aloft a cup, above the figure is printed the inscription "RELIGION" on a curving banner.
