Jug, bone china, glaze finely crackled and black pin holes below the foot, pale greenish translucency, standing on a shallow turned foot, oviform body and out-turning neck, curving beak form spout, double scroll handle with spurs and thumbpiece; painted in on-glaze polychrome enamels with a naive view of a schooner-rigged paddle steamer, named ST DAVID on the paddle box, flying two blue pennants and a union jack, a hilly estuary behind, a scroll above inscribed WILLIAM PARFITT/COMMANDER in gilt, large gilt wreath on either side, and gilt flower on spout, gilt foliage to handle, foot and lip lined in gold.
