Nantgarw China Works (1813 - 1822)
Plate, soft-paste porcelain; standing on a straight sided foot rim, cushion moulded and slightly curved spreading sides, lobed lip; painted in the centre with a genre scene of a cottage, with a man lifting a sack, hens, and ducks on a pond; gilt border to cavetto - gilt dotted ground enclosed by gilt petalled scrolls between hatched leaf motifs; gilt border to lip - gilt foliate scrolls and scrolling hawthorn, and alternating pink enamel roses and insects with trophies of tools associated with the countryside and farming, including scythe, fork, spade, axe, and wheat; gilt dentilled lip.
