Jug, earthenware, rounded oblong shape with spreading foot, bulbous sides composed of six convex panels separated by vertical incised lines, tapering inwards at the shoulder before flaring out to the mouth, waved edge to the rim, raised wide beak spout, the lip-rim and spout moulded with flower heads and scrolls, high loop handle with raised thumb-spur; transfer-printed in brown with to the body an Italianate scene showing in the foreground a bridge over a river with figures standing on it and buildings and trees to either side, in the background a landscape of buildings, trees and hills, border to the neck of flower heads, foliage and scrolls all on a stippled brown ground, a floral spray to the interior of the spout, a short border to the handle of a regular pattern of circle and dots.
