Patchwork quilt
Patchwork quilt made by Rachel Williams of Llandeilo in about 1800-30. Belonged to Anne Williams (nee Edwards), wife of William Williams (1764-1849), a malster of Bridge Street, Llandeilo.
Top cover of floral cotton prints with a central printed panel of flower heads within a floral wreath. Remainder consists of a series of broders of varying widths of rectangular pieces. Backing of restangular and strip patches of a similar fabric. Fleece filling. Quilting pattern: large central roundel of four leaves with four leaf motif in centre and diamond edging. Corners of field filled with spirals and shells. Inner border of feathers, with quarter circles in corners filled with large leaf and small heart. Outer border of wide zig-zag containing spirals on a trellis field, edged with a narrow diamond border. Four leaf motif in each corner.
