Dillwyn & Co., Cambrian Pottery (1811 - 1817 and 1824 - 1850)
Plate, earthenware, circular shape, tapering foot-rim slanting inwards with an incised ring around it, curving sides and spreading rim, a raised edge to the rim; transfer-printed in black with to the centre of the well an old-fashioned sailing ship, a number of figures can be seen on the deck of the ship and the Union Jack flies at the stern, the ship sails on an expanse of water with billowing waves, below the scene is an arrangement of marine trophies including a cannon, an anchor, a trident, a drum, a figurehead and numerous pikes and swords, two black bands to the rim.
