Medieval ceramic floor tile
Lewis Group 51 number 723 Line-impressed. Carpet pattern: each tile bears a double-outline square set diagonally containing four oak-leaves joined at the centre: in each corner a trefoil springing from the square. Haughmond Abbey (Lunt & Lisk forthcoming no. 2); Chirbury Abbey; Ireland: unprovenanced (Eames & Fanning 1988, L15). Similar to Lewis Group 52 numbers 734 and 743 (variants of the same design).
