Within a niche set against a field replenished by roses, Queen Philippa of Hainault, wife of Edward III and patroness, crowned and holding a sceptre fleury. Supported on tabernacle work to either side,a shield: dext. quarterly, 1. and 4. FRANCE (Ancient); 2. and 3. ENGLAND; sin. quarterly, 1. and 4. ENGLAND, 2. and 3. four lions rampant, HAINAULT.In base, a further shield: three eagles displayed, for ROBERT DE EGLESFIELD, founder of the college, rector of Brough (Co. Westmoreland) and confessor to the Queen.
