Bobbin winder
Used for winding bobbins for F08.12.1 sewing machine. It comprises a vertical cast iron frame, a rectangular steel base, a bobbin holder, one large cog wheel with a wooden handle, one small cog wheel, and a round bar to hold a reel of thread. The bobbin was placed in the holder and held in position by a spring mechanism. The thread from the reel was tied to the bobbin. Turning the handle on the large cog wheel turned the small cog and the bobbin, winding on the thread. When ready, the bobbin was removed and placed in the shuttle in the sewing machine.
A trough for dipping the thread in wax is missing. The base plate may not be original, and looks of a later date than the cast iron frame.
