Chalice
Chalice, silver and silver gilt, standing on a stepped foot with applied flat foot rim, cast(?) beading on the vertical face of the step, the foot lobed (six large alternating with six small lobes) and rising at the join with the hexagonal stem to an hexagonal 'gallery' with buttresses at each corner and twin lancets pierced on each face, above this two hexagonal sleeves of similar form but with engraved single lancets on each face, between which a cushion-shaped knop with embossed plain leaves and six gilt diamond-shaped bosses with inset faces engraved with quatrefoil flowers, the knop and lower sleeve removable when the stem is unscrewed from the foot, the stem supporting a silver gilt rounded bowl sitting on a calyx of detailed cast acanthus leaves; inset into the foot a shield engraved with the arms of Ponce de Leon, Duke of Areos.
