Plate, cockle
Cockle plate, earthenware, flat base, curving sides and spreading rim with a lobed edge; transfer-printed in underglaze blue with the 'Willow' pattern, to the well a Chinese landscape with pagodas, fences, three figures crossing a bridge and two swallows flying above, around the rim an elaborate border of scrollwork and wheel-motifs against a diaper pattern ground.
