Plate, cockle
Cockle plate, earthenware, circular shape with inset base, curving sides and spreading rim; transfer-printed in blue with to the upper side of the plate the 'Two temples' pattern, a large pagoda surrounded by oriental trees and with two figures on a bridge over a river to one side of it, in the foreground an oriental fence and in the background further oriental buildings and trees on islands in an expanse of water.
