Baby's frock
Baby's white cotton lawn frock with dropped waistline, high neckline and long sleeves. Made by Belgian refugee nuns in Newport, Gwent, during the First World War. The bodice is trimmed with two inserted panels of handmade lace featuring shamrocks and roses, with whitework floral motifs around the neckline. Two bands of pin-tuck gathers run along each sleeve, with a panel of lace in between. The skirt also pin-tucked at regular intervals. The cuffs are trimmed with lace.
