Statue
Carving of St Teilo based on medieval examples surviving at (e.g.) Daoulas Abbey and St Telo/Thelau’s church in Landelo/Landeleau, Britanny. The statue was carved from oak by master carver Emyr Hughes (from Llangollen, now living in Gloucestershire). It shows St Teilo dressed as a bishop seated on a stag with his right hand raised in blessing and holding a crozier in his left. The statue was painted by Fleur Kelly from Mells, Nr Frome, Somerset, using natural pigments and gold leaf (cost £1,000).
