helmet made from navy blue fulled wool with a cork inner; outside decorated with a large badge on the front inscribed Monmouthshire Artillery Volunteers; metal fixing on the crown with 2 metal roses with hooks to attach the chin strap [missing]; wool applied in 4 sections with a strap made from the same cloth whitch sits beneath the badge; edge is bound with black patent leather; lied with cotton twill.
