Plate, earthenware, circular shape with inset base, curving sides and spreading rim, a raised edge to the well, eight very shallow notches and lobes to the rim; transfer-printed in blue with to the centre of the well the 'Castled Gatehouse' pattern, dominating the scene a castle gateway with twin towers under which two figures pass, in the foreground are further figures and cattle, to one side of the gateway a bridge crosses over a moat, trees and bushes are to both sides of the scene, the scene enclosed within a narrow circular dentilled border, wide elaborare border to the rim an extending down the sides of the well of ornate scrolls, flower heads, fleur-de-lys and garlanded foliage all on a blue ground, the plate cracked and repaired.
