Evans, D.J. & Co., Cambrian Pottery (1862 - 1870)
Plate, earthenware, circular shape, standing on a slightly raised squared-off foot-rim, cushion-moulded sides and spreading rim, a slightly raised edge to the well; transfer-printed in blue with to the centre of the well the 'Verandah' pattern, a Chinese-style design showing in the foreground an oriental fence on a patch of ground with an urn upon it and a spreading plant with large flowers and leaves to one side of it, in the background small buildings on islands across an expanse of water and a further spreading plant, a small bird flys over the scene, border to the outer rim of a lattice-work fence-like pattern issuing sprays of flowers and foliage which spread across the rim and down the sides of the well.
