Plate, cockle
Small plate, earthenware, standing on an incised foot rim, cushion-moulded spreading sides, the rim moulded in twelve lobed panels, interspersed two small then one large; transfer-printed in black in the centre with two young girls throwing a top, a classical pillar in the background with flowers and foliage; the rim moulded with rose-buds, open petalled daisies and clover-type flowers, linked by simple leaves and stems; the rose-buds enamelled in dark red, the remaining flowers in blue, the foliage in green, the painting rough and not corresponding closely to the moulded areas.
