Roman copper alloy plate brooch, enamelled
Brooch in the form of the sole of a sandal or boot, with a hinged pin. The plate is inlaid with enamel (now in a decayed state) and the wide copper alloy margin is decorated with representations of the hob-nails. The toe is pointed and angular, and an imperfect cast loop projects from the heel. The catchplate has been repaired with a new catch soldered to the surviving part of the side-plate.
