Fine woollen ground embroidered with coloured silks. Border top and bottom, and partially finished down right side, of wavy stem with plant motifs. At top: upper and lower case alphabet and row of numerals. Below: rectangular compartment outlined with ornamental lines containing single stanza verse flanked by tree motifs with row of motifs along the top: birds, baskets of fruit and butterflies. In lower part: house motif flanked by two trees with maker's name and age above. Inscription: Then guide o Christ this little hand To deal thy Bounties round the land To clothe & feed the hungry poor And to the Stranger ope[n] my door Sarah Bigg Aged 9 years
