Roman copper alloy buckle
Medium sized buckle. The ends of the hoop are curved back to form scrolls to either side of a central bar which lies in advance of the straight edge of the buckle and held the iron tongue; projecting away from the hoop from the centre of the straight edge of the buckle are two bronze loops whereby the buckle was hinged to a bronze plate. The pivot of this hinge was of iron.
