Early Neolithic pottery bowl
Rim sherd with diameter circa 260mm. Soft, grey, vesicular fabric. Abundant angular cavities formed by weathered out calcite crystals up to 5mm long. Occasional sherds have the calcite preserved, showing that they were originally rhomboidal cleavage fragments of vein calcite. There is also a scatter of tiny quartz. Probably local provenance.
