S.S. DUNSTAFFNAGE, glass negative
1/4 Starboard Stern view of S.S. DUNSTAFFNAGE in Cardiff Docks c.1936.
Built 1922 by Lithgows of Port Glasgow with triple expansion engines by Rankin & Blackmore of Greenock, for the Scottish Navigation Co Ltd. Sold 1939 to F.A.Vinnen (Bremen) and renamed MAGDALENE VINNEN. In 1943 she was badly damaged in an Allied air attack on Hamburg and towed to Copenhagen for repairs. Siezed as a prize by Britain in 1945 she briefly carried the name EMPIRE RIBBLE until later that year under ownership of the Netherlands Government she became the OOSTERBEEK and renamed WINTERSWIJK in 1947. Sold to the Peak Steam Ship Co of Hong Kong in 1954 and renamed UNIVERSAL TRADER. She was scrapped in 1959.
