North Sands type built 1943 by Burrard Dry Dock Co Ltd., North Vancouver (engine by Dominion Engineering Works Ltd., Montreal), for MoWT, managed by Sir R. Ropner & Co. 1946 – Transferred to Ministry of Transport, managed by Cunard White Star Line (restyled Cunard Steamship Co from 1949). 1950 – Sold to Nova Scotia Marine Enterprise Co., managed by Counties Ship Management Co., London, and renamed FRY HILL. 1957 – Sold to Portofino Cia Nav., Monrovia, and renamed AKTI. Registered at Syra, Greece, from1960. 1961 – Sold to A. Frangistas & E. Athanasiou, Syra, and renamed GLORIA. 1964 – Sold to Olistim Nav Co., Syra, and renamed HELEN. She was broke up at Kawajiri in 1967. (mariners-list /Fortships)
