Wooden costume doll from Safourey village near Nazareth, Palestine
Wooden doll. Bound sticks form the body and legs with just enough stuffing for the rudimentary arms. The head is a cloth covered wooden disc, stuffed at the back, with pencilled features, moustache and a fringe of hair. Wearing a long white trousers with white cotton under shirt, under a long dark red and gold striped robe with a short sleeved red cotton jacket worn over it. Brown checked sash and head shawl, a wisp of black hair stiched to the back of the head with a stuffed triangle of red cloth hanging beside. Costume from village called Safourey, near Nazareth, Palestine. Details written in pen on a small paper tab on the front hem of jacket.
