Vacuum cleaner
A wooden cabinet with carrying handles arranged like those of Sedan chair. An iron fly-wheel with wooden handle protrudes from one end. This turns a crank which operates a pair of bellows. A suction hosepipe (missing) led off from one side of the cabinet. A brass plate inside is inscribed: 'Hare's Vacuum Cleaner Patent (Applied for)'. The inside edge of cabinet is stamped: 'Rd. No. 5722661272'. Outer sides have transfers reading 'The Dustaw (Hare's Patent) Manufactured by The Dustaw Vacuum Cleaner Co. Ltd., Birmingham.' This design was registered 25 October 1910 in the name of Earnest Charles Parkell, Moseley, Birmingham
