Candelabrum
Press moulded, assembled, and modelled candelabrum, in a complex rococo style, with three branches and figure of Diogenes. Lower part of candelabrum largely white and gilt. Four feet, undulating asymmetric base formed of C scrolls. Diogenes, a thin elderly man with a naturalistically painted face and a pointed grey beard, is animatedly posed in front of his tub: stands bent forwards, turning towards the right, in his left hand holding an open lantern supported on the front of the base; wrapped in loose robes covering his head. Tub behind facing left containing greenery of extruded clay. White and gilt C scrolls rise behind figure parting to form a taller central candle arm flanked by two smaller; upper parts enamelled green and modelled with leaves and variously coloured enamelled flowers; each holder formed of a rosette of leaves surrounding a tulip shaped flower.
