Figure group of Highlander, pony and dead doe, white earthenware with a crackle glaze, on a very irregular elongated oval base, with a gilt line round. Highlander (right) seated on a promontory,in Scottish dress of black shoes, white knee length socks with a red lattice pattern and a red fringe, bare knees, buttoned up underglaze blue coat, knee length red, green and black plaid across his chest ending in a red fringe, brown hair, bonnet with plaid band round his forehead and a pink plume, seated holding orange bagpipes in the crook of his right arm, and resting the bagpipes on his raised right knee, left arm bent across body and holding the pipes. Brown/orange horse on left, horizontally placed and facing the Highlander, black mane, tail and hooves, head turned slightly towards the front, and supporting an orange and bay white spotted doe, stretched vertically with its front hooves resting on the ground and its back hooves tied against the neck of the horse. Rough green/ brown ground supporting the underside of the horse and decorated with clumps of orange and green extruded clay.
