(5900gt) : Built 1922 as SAVOIA by Stabilimento Tecnico Triestino, Trieste, for Lloyd-Triestino, Trieste. 1941 Captured by the Royal Navy at Kismayu in Italian Somaliland. 1942 Assigned to MoWT and renamed EMPIRE ARUN, managed by Union-Castle Line. 1947 Sold to Goulandris Bros., London, and renamed GRANLAKE. 1949 Sold to Compagnia Maritima del Este, Panama, and renamed DRYAD. 1951 Sold to Hikari Kisen KK., Tokyo, and renamed SHIRANESAN MARU. 1953 Sold to Mitsi Kinkai Kisen KK, Tokyo, and again in 1955 to Hokuyo Suisan, Tokyo (where she was used as a crab cannery). 1962 Sold to Nichiro Gyogyo KK, Tokyo, and renamed DAINICHI MARU.
