Post-Medieval clay pipe
Mould-decorated clay pipe bowl, in relief. Vertical band of leaves along mould seam, front and back of bowl. On one side of bowl is a large frieze of the three feathers of the Prince of Wales, surmounted by the german inscription 'Ich Dien'-'I serve'. The other side is a bust, surmounted by the inscription 'Prince Regent'. Probable reference to George IV before his accession to the throne in 1820 (he was Prince of Wales at that time). He acted as Prince Regent to his father from 1811-1820.
