Minutes
A copy of the minutes of a meeting held on the 23rd June 1958 between the executive committee of the North Wales Quarrymen’s Union and the officers of the Transport and General Workers’ Union from Shotton, Mr Tom Jones (Regional Secretary) and Mr John Griffiths (Finance Administrator). It is noted that the minutes are confidential, and were for the information of the NWQU only, and not to outsiders or members of the press. The meeting was held to discuss the financial position of the NWQU i.e. its income from contributions was not meeting the union’s expenditure, and the possibility of the NWQU becoming bankrupt. The minutes originally belonged to Mr Alun Roberts, a quarryman at Dinorwig Quarry, who was an active member of the NWQU e.g. he was a member of the NWQU’s working party (Cyngor Gweithiol) in 1959.
