Neolithic flint oblique arrowhead
An exceptionally fine oblique arrowhead of heavily patinated white flint. The barb is heavily refined to almost a minor hook. The dorsal surface of the original flake has marginal working along the edges to thin it and on the ventral surface the retouch is mostly present at the basal hollow.
Flint oblique arrowhead, 3000-2500 BCE, from Howick, south-east Wales. Pieces of bone or antler were used to press thin flakes from the edge of a piece of flint.
