Wolff, Arno (Arno Wolff was recruited by Thyssen UK in his native Germany to work as a contractor in south Wales. He was involved in many mining projects, mainly shaft work, including the sinking of Cynheidre Colliery. When Thyssen ceased their UK operations he stayed in Wales and worked for the NCB/British Coal, finishing as an overman in Cynheidre.)
Clock made by Arno Wolff using coal from Cynheidre Colliery. Large piece of coal on wooden plinth with brass feet. German clock movement inserted into front with small brass miners' lamp inserted below. Small set of miners tools (sledge hammer, mandrel and spade) either side of lamp.
