Seal impression: Chancery of Monmouth
Equestrian: Edward IV on horseback to right; his shield and horse caparisons bear: three lions passant guardant, a label of three points each charged with three fleurs-de-lis, DUCHY OF LANCASTER (of which Monmouth then formed part); no crest on helmet, wreath and mantling only; field diapered lozengy with a sun or a rose alternately in each compartment. It bears one of the (originally four) perforated lobes by which it would be fixed to the now lost counter-seal in the process of sealing; the other three lobes have been sawn off.
