Combinations
White combinations, short sleeves with embroidered hems. Fastened with eight buttons at the front.
Cotton and linen undergarments were worn to protect costly silks and velvets from bodily secretions. People prefered to wash their undergarments rather than their bodies. Clean cuffs and collars were put on display whilst filthy bodies lurked under layers of clothes.
