Plate
Plate, buff earthenware, covered with a pale-blue tin-glaze, three prominent stilt marks, standing on a recessed base, forming a narrow foot rim, spreading, cushion-moulded sides, forming a central well with steeply sloping sides and a sloping rim; decorated in underglaze blue, in the centre, with Imari-style flowers and foliage, a fenced area in the foreground and an insect hovering above; the rim, with a running pattern of flower heads, fern-type leaves and scaled circles, reminiscent of pineapples, in a thick, raised white, or bianco sopra bianco, standing out from the blue- tinged tin glaze.
