Early Bronze Age pottery beaker

Extensively restored, the original beaker consisting of the lower half plus two sherds of the rim and three of the neck. Light brown fabric. This is a long necked beaker, probably of Clarke's (1970) Developed Northern or Late Northern British Group (N2 or N3) and Lanting & Van der Waals Step 5 beakers. The decoration is continuous and entirely held within narrow linear horizontal bands, covering the entire sides of the beaker. Techniques include; scored zig-zags, comb tooth impression and diagonal finger nail impressions, as well as pecking with a sharp circular point. All linear horizontal bands look to have been impressed with small rectangular comb teeth.
