Portrait of Anne Vaughan, aged c.53
PARRY, William (1742-1791
William Parry trained in London under the fashionable British portrait painter Joshua Reynolds. He maintained a healthy career in Wales, thanks to the support of the Williams-Wynn family of Wynnstay. He was a friend of Thomas Jones, and the son of celebrated harpist, John Parry.
Hyfforddwyd William Parry yn Llundain gan y peintiwr portreadau Prydeinig ffasiynol Joshua Reynolds. Fe lwyddodd i ddilyn gyrfa lewyrchus yng Nghymru, diolch i gefnogaeth y teulu Williams-Wynn o Wynnstay. Roedd yn gyfaill i Thomas Jones, ac yn fab i’r telynor John Parry.)
Anne Williames was an heiress and a relative of the Williams-Wynn family. On their marriage in 1765, her husband Robert Howell Vaughan was able to give up his career as a surgeon. The couple were friends of Parry's parents. William altered Anne's costume, having originally shown her wearing a lower cut dress and more jewellery.
