Roman samian bowl
The lower zone contains three friezes, a straight leaf wreath, an ovolo of Claudian type with a large eight-pointed rosette tongue terminal and a frieze of "lyre" motifs. This bowl is from the same mould as three vessels illustrated by Knorr, stamped by Aquitanus. The three examples are from London, Bregenz and Hufingen. The date should be Claudian, though the fabric could be somewhat later.
